What do the stars in ratings really mean?
I've been reading a lot lately about reviews and ratings (yes I am talking about those pesky stars again) and what they mean to the authors and I've found a lot of different point of views on the subject. But there does seem to be one common truth - they matter.
The stars actually matter as they add or deduct points from the overall rating of the book and author. If you like an author's work well enough to read it but consistently give 3-4 stars, you could be bringing that author's ratings down. I've actually been told that 3 stars is now seen as a negative/bad thing on a certain internet book selling giant...
Authors need reviews. There is no other way to say that. A lot of promotional sites will not take a book that has less than 25 Amazon reviews. For me, reviews are painstakingly earned, but I will continue to be eternally grateful for what I get. <3
Surprisingly, I have also heard many folks say they do not know how to write a review. So, I am including some graphics below to help you. It doesn't have to be long and you don't have to recount the plot for us, just tell us if you liked it and why!
THANK YOU not just from me, but from authors and readers everywhere!
*Also want to thank my amazing ARC team for all their help in getting my work reviewed and promoted!
